How Does Bail Bonds In Myrtle Beach Work?

The bail process usually begins with the person being arrested for a crime and jailed. According to our bail and recognizance laws, a person charged with a bailable offense and must have a bond hearing within 24 hours after his or her arrest (SC Code of Laws Section 22-5-510(B)). All crimes that a person commit may not be a bailable offense such murder or attempted murder which are considered violent offenses.

When judges are making a decision to grant bond, they will look at a person's association with family or employment, how long the defendant has been living in the community, prior criminal record, the current charge, and any other information that is deemed necessary (SC Code of Laws Section 22-5-510(C)(D)).

If the judge grants a surety bond, a co-signor or the defendant has to pay the bondsman 10%-15% of the bond amount (e.g.,$10,000*.10= $1,000).

After contacting your bail agent, he or she will post the bond to have the individual released.
